Judge OKs Class Cert. In First American Fee Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (August 18, 2011, 8:40 PM EDT) -- A California state judge on Wednesday approved a class of residential property owners who claim First American Title Insurance Co. overcharged them for a loan policy that was classified incorrectly with the state's insurance department.

Judge Anthony J. Mohr wrote in the order certifying the class that there were common questions among plaintiffs and the First American Eagle loan policy at issue. Every member of the class purchased the same policy and were overcharged $710 by the insurance company, the judge said.
