Clemens Should Face Retrial Over Steroid Perjury: US

Law360, New York (August 19, 2011, 9:21 PM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors argued Friday that former MLB pitcher Roger Clemens should be retried on charges of lying to Congress about whether he used steroids or human growth hormones because the action that caused a mistrial resulted from a simple government mistake.

Clemens asked the court July 29 to dismiss criminal charges that he lied to Congress in 2008, claiming prosecutors had deliberately caused a mistrial by presenting inadmissable evidence and arguing that a retrial would constitute double jeopardy.
