HP, United Air Lines Exit TQP Data Patent Suit

Law360, New York (August 23, 2011, 10:22 PM EDT) -- Hewlett-Packard Co. and United Air Lines Inc. settled claims on Tuesday in Texas federal court that they infringed an oft-asserted data encryption patent owned by patent-holding company TQP Development LLC.

U.S. District Judge T. John Ward dismissed HP, United and affiliated companies Hewlett-Packard Development Co. LP and United Continental Holdings Inc. Tuesday after the companies said that they had cut a deal with TQP.

Additional information about the settlement was unavailable, and attorneys for the companies could not immediately be reached for comment.
