Girl Scout Employees Sue Over Membership Fees

Law360, New York (August 24, 2011, 6:20 PM EDT) -- A former program manager for the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles on Monday lodged a class action in California state court claiming the organization’s workers were unfairly forced to pay membership dues as a condition for employment.

LeVanna Atkinson-Williams's suit — filed on behalf of a class of full-time, part-time, on-call and seasonal employees — says the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles required employees to pay annual membership dues to its parent national organization in violation of California labor laws.
