Google Inks E-Book Deal With French Publisher

Law360, New York (August 25, 2011, 5:11 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. said Thursday it had reached a deal with La Martiniere Groupe allowing the Internet search giant to add the French publishing house's works to its Google Books service, resolving a long-running copyright suit between the two companies.

The "major agreement" calls for the two companies to work together to produce digital versions of many out-of-print works that La Martiniere owns the rights to, Google Books France Director Philippe Colombet said in a blog post Thursday.
