US Wasted $31B To $60B In War Contracts: Report

Law360, New York (August 31, 2011, 6:39 PM EDT) -- The bipartisan Commission on Wartime Contracting on Wednesday issued its full report to Congress, finding after two years of study that the U.S. wasted between $31 billion and $60 billion in wartime contracts, and warning many other projects remained at risk for waste due to sustainability concerns.

The commission's 240-page report details a pervasive lack of oversight and planning in contingency contracting, an area that has cost the U.S. $206 billion since 2002. The commission made 15 recommendations to improve contract management, and said immediate action...
