Online Advertisers To Comply With New Privacy Rules

Law360, New York (August 29, 2011, 5:13 PM EDT) -- Trade group Interactive Advertising Bureau on Monday mandated that its members comply with a code of conduct aimed at protecting consumers' privacy online, but an advocacy group says the new rules do not give consumers sufficient control over their data.

The Internet advertising trade group introduced the privacy code in late February and gave customers six months to come into compliance with the rules, which the IAB says bar Internet advertisers from collecting personal data without consent.
