Reports Blast DOD's Wartime Contracting Practices

Law360, New York (August 29, 2011, 7:44 PM EDT) -- Two reports took aim last week at the U.S. Department of Defense's wartime contracting efforts, with one saying that the U.S. wasted more than $30 billion in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and another pointing out that the number of DOD contracts awarded without competition had soared.

In a Sunday op-ed published in the Washington Post, the chairs of the Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan said that the DOD contractors wasted $30 billion, or one-sixth of all contracting dollars spent during 10 years...
