Bloomberg Can't Dodge Swatch IP Suit Over Analyst Call

Law360, New York (August 31, 2011, 1:12 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Tuesday refused to toss Swiss watchmaker Swatch Group Management Services Ltd.'s lawsuit accusing business news service Bloomberg LP of violating its copyright by recording an earnings call with analysts and posting the transcript online.

U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein denied Bloomberg's motion to dismiss the suit, ruling that the company's authorized recording of the conference call is entitled to copyright protection.
