American Airlines Agents Denied Cert. In OT Action

Law360, New York (August 31, 2011, 9:21 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Monday denied class certification to a group of American Airline employees suing for overtime compensation, saying there were fatal conflicts between the class representative and the other putative members' situations.

The employees' complaint, removed from a California state court in November 2010, accused American Airlines of failing to pay overtime and providing accurate itemized wage statements. The overtime payments at issue involved employees who switched work shifts that resulted in them performing overtime hours.
