Calif. Atty Convicted In Witness-Buying Case

Law360, New York (August 31, 2011, 7:59 PM EDT) -- A California attorney was convicted Wednesday of extortion and obstruction of justice for allegedly accepting $50,000 from the target of an immigrant worker investigation in exchange for promising that his client, a witness in the probe, would lie to authorities.

Alfred Nash Villalobos was convicted on one count each of extortion and obstruction for his part in a scheme to thwart an investigation into suspected religious worker visa fraud in Los Angeles in 2009.
