Ex-Employee Targets Borders Over Bankruptcy Layoffs

Law360, New York (September 2, 2011, 9:18 PM EDT) -- An ex-employee of a Borders Group Inc. unit filed a putative class action Friday in New York bankruptcy court, claiming the defunct bookseller axed him and about 300 coworkers without providing the legally required notice.

Jared Pinsker, who worked for Borders Inc. at its headquarters in Ann Arbor, Mich., claims the company violated the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act and a similar New York state law by not giving workers 60 days' notice before firing them.
