Wal-Mart, Sony, Others Walk From Keyboard IP Suit

Law360, New York (September 7, 2011, 1:08 PM EDT) -- Gellyfish Technology of Texas LLC has mostly abandoned its Texas suit claiming Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Sony Corp., Verizon Wireless and more than a dozen others infringed a patent covering keyboard technology for portable devices, according to documents made public Monday.

A Texas federal judge granted stipulations of dismissals that Gellyfish and 17 defendants filed after some of the companies targeted in the suit argued that U.S. Patent Number 7,356,361 and the Palm Handspring Treo constituted prior art that invalidated Gellyfish's patent.
