PacketVideo Wants McKool Smith Off Spotify Suit

Law360, New York (September 7, 2011, 12:46 PM EDT) -- PacketVideo Corp. asked a California federal court Wednesday to disqualify McKool Smith PC from representing Spotify Ltd., claiming the firm advised the software company on filing a patent action against the music service, then switched sides after PacketVideo hired other counsel.

The San Diego-based plaintiff claims its general counsel Joel Espelien first contacted Garret Chambers, a partner in McKool Smith's Dallas office, in July about possibly hiring the firm for patent infringement litigation against Spotify.
