Attorneys Compete To Represent BAR/BRI Plaintiffs

Law360 (June 15, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Several firms have been fighting to serve as the plaintiffs' counsel and to object to the proposed settlement of $49 million in the BAR/BRI antitrust class action as a hearing to approve the proposed settlement scheduled for June 18 nears.

The central figure amid the wrangling is Eliot G. Disner, the former antitrust partner at McGuireWoods LLP, which represents the plaintiffs, whose brief opposing the settlement in the suit against the two test prep companies was filed over McGuireWoods's objections by three lead plaintiffs in May....
