TriWest Agrees To Pay $10M For Overbilling Military

Law360, New York (September 9, 2011, 4:24 PM EDT) -- TriWest Health Care Alliance Corp. has agreed to pay $10 million to settle a False Claims Act suit brought by four ex-employees and joined by the U.S. alleging it overbilled the military’s medical benefit plan, the federal government announced Friday.

The deal resolves a suit brought under the FCA's whistleblower provisions that alleged government contractor TriWest failed to give the military's Tricare Management Activity the benefit of discounts it had negotiated with health providers by submitting claims that were higher than the rates the providers billed....
