Insurer, United One Accused Of Secretly Recording Calls

Law360, New York (September 12, 2011, 1:14 PM EDT) -- Mercury Insurance Co. and United One Equities LLC were each slapped with a proposed class action Friday claiming they violated California laws by underhandedly recording phone calls discussing insurance claims and alleged debts, respectively.

The two suits — brought in California court — echo allegations put forward in a putative class action launched in mid-August in the same court that accused BMW Financial Services NA LLC of invading customers' privacy by surreptitiously recording phone conversations.
