Costco Ordered To Arbitrate LCD Antitrust Claims

Law360, New York (September 12, 2011, 7:33 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Friday ordered Costco Wholesale Corp. to arbitrate its claims against Samsung Electronics America Inc., Sharp Corp. and others in the multidistrict litigation over alleged price-fixing in the liquid crystal display panel industry.

U.S. District Judge Susan Illston partially granted the defendants’ motion to compel arbitration, saying Costco was bound by 2004 product purchase agreements to arbitrate any disputes related to the products in the agreement, including allegations that the LCD panel producers colluded to keep the price of televisions artificially high. ...
