7th Circ. Will Rehear Parking Ticket Privacy Suit

Law360, New York (September 13, 2011, 7:44 PM EDT) -- The Seventh Circuit on Tuesday revived a putative class action against Palatine, Ill., announcing it would rehear en banc a suit alleging the Chicago suburb violates the Driver's Privacy Protection Act by disclosing personal information on parking citations.

In a short, two-paragraph order, the appeals court vacated its July opinion that had affirmed a district court's dismissal of the case because the ticket, as a service of legal process, was a permissible use of personal information under the DPPA.
