'Joy Luck Club' Director Sued For Dropping New Film

Law360, New York (September 14, 2011, 1:48 PM EDT) -- A film production company adapting Xiaolu Guo's novel, "A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers," sued Wayne Wang's company in California state court on Tuesday after the director of "The Joy Luck Club" walked away from the project despite a 2008 contract.

S.P. Das Enterprises LLC, better known as Das Films, accused Wayne Wang Productions Inc. of breaching its contract, which called for Wang to direct a movie based on the story of a Chinese woman who falls for a local while studying English in London....
