Sci-Fi Writer Seeks Destruction Of ‘In Time’ Movie

Law360, New York (September 15, 2011, 8:03 PM EDT) -- Famed science fiction writer Harlan Ellison is seeking to have all copies of writer and director Andrew Niccol’s upcoming sci-fi thriller “In Time” destroyed, alleging in a copyright infringement suit filed Wednesday in California federal court that the film is a rip-off of one of his short stories.

In the suit, which names Niccol and New Regency Productions, Ellison said “In Time” is derived from his 1965 award-winning story “‘Repent, Harlequin!’ Said the Ticktockman.”
