Borders IP Asset Sale Brings In $15.8M

Law360, New York (September 15, 2011, 9:44 PM EDT) -- The intellectual property portfolio of bankrupt bookseller Borders Group Inc. fetched $15.8 million at auction Thursday, thanks to bids from former rival Barnes & Noble Inc. and others.

The portfolio included various trademarks, Internet domain names and the website, as well as the trade names Borders, Waldenbooks and Brentano's. Ten bidders participated in the auction, which included more than 50 rounds of bidding, according to Hilco Trading LLC unit Hilco Streambank, which oversaw the asset sale.
