US Risks Rocky Drawdown Of Iraq Contracts: GAO

Law360, New York (September 16, 2011, 3:36 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense can do more to ensure the efficient demobilization of contractors and transition of contracts as part of the drawdown of U.S. forces in Iraq, a U.S. Government Accountability Office report revealed Friday.

The GAO said the DOD faced several challenges as part of the massive logistical operation that could make it harder to transition contracts without gaps in important services, as well as to fully implement its demobilization goals for contractor personnel and infrastructure.
