Mitsubishi Defense Unit Falls Victim To Hack Attack

Law360, New York (September 19, 2011, 6:42 PM EDT) -- Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. revealed Monday that a cyberattack in mid-August infected 45 of the Japanese defense manufacturing giant's servers with a virus, allowing sensitive information to leak out.

The Tokyo-based company — whose 700 products include guided weapons systems, defense aircraft, tankers and rocket engines — said it alerted Japanese police to the attack on Aug. 31, about 20 days after it detected the intrusion.
