Bellwether Plaintiff Prepares For Guidant Trial

Law360 (June 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The plaintiff in the first bellwether case against Guidant Corp. is gearing up for trial, filing court documents on Monday detailing his claims over the company's allegedly defective implantable heart defibrillators.

Leopoldo Duron Jr., a California resident, said that Guidant—which was acquired by Boston Scientific Corp. last year—actively concealed the defibrillators' life-threatening defects from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, physicians, patients, and the general public for more than three years.
