2nd Circ. Axes Injunction In Chevron's $18B Ecuador Row

Law360, New York (September 19, 2011, 8:36 PM EDT) -- The Second Circuit on Monday struck down an injunction blocking the enforcement of an $18 billion Ecuadorean court judgment against Chevron Corp. in a case claiming Chevron predecessor Texaco Inc. polluted a rainforest and caused residents to develop cancer.

Chevron has accused the Ecuadoreans of conspiring to wage a global extortion campaign against the company by pressuring judges and politicians in Ecuador and releasing a documentary claiming Texaco's pollution destroyed natural resources and caused residents to develop cancer.
