Workers Not Represented By Union: Rite Aid

Law360 (June 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Rite Aid Corp. and the Jean Coutu Group each filed a motion Friday to dismiss the allegations of suppressing union activity that have been brought by a union claiming to represent workers in their drugstore chains.

The dispute hinges on Rite Aid Corp.'s recent purchase of the drug store chains Brooks and Eckerd from the Canadian Jean Coutu Group Inc., and Rite Aid's position that its newly inherited workers can hold an election to decide if they want to unionize.
