Indirect Cement Buyers Seek Cert. In Price-Fixing Suit

Law360, New York (September 22, 2011, 7:45 PM EDT) -- Indirect purchasers of Florida concrete sought Wednesday to certify a class of thousands of homeowners who were allegedly bilked out of millions of dollars in a price-fixing scheme between Cemex Inc. and three other cement companies.

The motion before U.S. District Judge Cecilia Altonaga said a class action was the best way to recover individual damages for homeowners who allegedly overpaid for concrete after the defendants — including Florida Rock Industries Inc., Tarmac America LLC and Prestige AB Management Co.
