Obama Nominates Calif. District Judge For 9th Circ.

Law360, New York (September 23, 2011, 5:17 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Thursday nominated California federal judge and former assistant U.S. attorney Jacqueline H. Nguyen for a seat on the Ninth Circuit.

Judge Nguyen's nomination to a federal judgeship in California's Central District was confirmed in 2009, making her the first Vietnamese-American elevated to the federal bench.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., who had recommended Judge Nguyen for the district court two years ago, praised the nominee on Thursday.
