DOD May Get Private Competition For Internal Services

Law360, New York (September 27, 2011, 6:09 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense met statutory requirements in a key report to Congress that could represent a step toward lifting a freeze on competitions that enable private contractors to vie for services performed by department employees, a federal watchdog said Monday.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office said in an audit that the DOD report on its policies and processes for public-private competitions adequately tackled topics spelled out in the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010, which included the temporary moratorium.
