Dean Foods Lied About Milk's Brain Benefits: Suit

Law360, New York (September 28, 2011, 3:38 PM EDT) -- A California resident launched a putative class action Tuesday accusing Dean Foods Inc. and WhiteWave Foods Inc. of falsely marketing their DHA-fortified organic milk products as being able to support brain health in children and adults.

The defendants claim on cartons and in print, broadcast and online advertisements that their Horizon organic milk plus DHA omega-3 product line benefits consumers' brain health, despite not having competent and reliable scientific evidence to support this claim, plaintiff Evereth Barrera alleges.
