GAO Urges DOD To Boost Acquisition Personnel Training

Law360, New York (September 29, 2011, 6:42 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense must do a better job overseeing and training personnel who work on the acquisiton of services, which covered more than half of the $376 billion the department spent on contracts in 2010, a federal watchdog revealed Wednesday.

The U.S. Government Accountability Office's report focused on the training of personnel with acquisition-related responsibilities who fell outside of the contracting workforce defined by the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act, a 1990 law that called for better training and development of acquisition personnel....
