Fraud Claim Against Ex-Golden Globes Publicist Tossed

Law360, Los Angeles (October 4, 2011, 3:54 PM EDT) -- A California state judge on Tuesday struck a fraud claim from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's lawsuit alleging its former public relations firm violated confidentiality agreements after claiming in its own suit that the HFPA's Golden Globe Awards were corrupt.

The ruling is a setback for the HFPA, which has been battling to protect the reputation of its awards show since January, when The Michael Russell Group LLC slapped its former employer with a $2 million lawsuit accusing the groups' members of exchanging Golden Globe votes...
