Goffer Brother Gets 3 Years For Insider Trading

Law360, New York (October 7, 2011, 1:57 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge on Friday sentenced Emanuel Goffer to three years in prison for insider trading on upcoming corporate deals through a scheme run by his brother, former Galleon Group LLC trader Zvi Goffer.

Repeating what has become a refrain in the sentencings in the Galleon Group cases, U.S. District Judge Richard J. Sullivan stressed the need to impose a sentence on Goffer, 32, that would send a message to Wall Street that insider trading will not be tolerated.
