Suit Seeks To Guard IP On Actress Thompson's 'Effie'

Law360, New York (October 12, 2011, 6:45 PM EDT) -- The company responsible for bringing actress and screenwriter Emma Thompson's latest project to the silver screen went to court on Friday to ask for a ruling that Thompson did not crib from a copyrighted screenplay about a Victorian love triangle.

Effie Film LLC sued playwright Eve Pomerance, also known as Eve Mossek, saying that her claims of similarities between her screenplay and Thompson's “Effie” are “frivolous and objectively unreasonable” and that Pomerance is simply attempting to sabotage EFL's film before it goes into production.
