War Contracting Auditor Urges DOD Acquisition Reform

Law360, New York (October 19, 2011, 8:12 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense is certain to lose billions of dollars to waste and fraud in wartime contracts unless it enacts powerful contracting reforms with the help of Congress, members of the Commission on Wartime Contracting in Iraq and Afghanistan told lawmakers Wednesday.

The Pentagon’s acquisition policies and organizational culture are in urgent need of change, or the country could continue to hemorrhage money from the billions it spends annually on wartime contracting, commission member Dov Zakheim said in a Senate armed services subcommittee hearing....
