DOD Contractors Won $400B Despite Fraud Allegations

Law360, New York (October 20, 2011, 6:30 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense awarded almost $400 billion during the past 10 years to contractors even after criminal convictions and civil judgments against them over fraud claims, a DOD report released Thursday said.

Between 2001 and 2010, the military awarded $33.1 million to contractors after they were convicted of criminal fraud charges within the decade, the DOD said. It also paid $398.9 million to contracting companies after they either settled civil fraud claims or were ordered to pay judgments at trial, the report said....
