Iraqi Co. Sues DOD To Block $87M Contract Renegotiation

Law360, New York (October 24, 2011, 3:17 PM EDT) -- An Iraqi shipping company sued the U.S. Department of Defense in Washington federal court Friday, hoping to block the military from renegotiating the rates on $87 million worth of trucking contracts after the company objected to a 10 percent cap on profits.

The shipping company, Al-Sarh Al-Kabir Commercial Agencies and General Transport Ltd., is the majority shareholder in a DOD contractor,  Al-Seqir Express Cargo Co. Ltd. Al-Seqir won two contracts for cargo shipping in Iraq in 2008 and 2009, with respective ceilings of $9 million and...
