Judge Halts DNA Patent Suit Pending Settlement

Law360, New York (June 27, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Two health care technology companies at the center of a dispute over DNA patents have been given more time to negotiate a settlement after advising a federal court they were close to resolving their spat.

Acknowledging GE Bio-Sciences and Australia-based Genetic Technologies were discussing a business resolution “in good faith,” Manhattan district judge William Pauley issued an order Tuesday staying the case for another 30 days to “facilitate settlement discussions.”

Lawyers for both parties did not return calls for comment on Wednesday, and it was unclear...
