KBR Waste-Burning Exposed British Soldier To Toxins: Suit

Law360, New York (October 27, 2011, 9:31 PM EDT) -- An officer in the Royal Air Force launched a suit Thursday in Texas state court against KBR Inc., becoming the first British soldier to sue the military contractor over exposure to highly toxic smoke from pits where waste was burned in Afghanistan.

British pilot John Finn Monahan accused KBR and its subsidiaries, Kellogg Brown & Root Services Inc. and KBR Technical Services Inc., of neglecting safety protocols by knowingly burning toxic materials and releasing cancer-causing chemicals in open-air burn pits less than a mile from soldiers'...
