Bristol-Myers Can't Shake Suit Over Kickbacks Scheme

Law360, Los Angeles (October 27, 2011, 10:10 PM EDT) -- A California judge indicated Thursday that Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. would have to defend against an ex-employee's whistleblower suit accusing it of inducing health care providers to prescribe its drugs by showering them with lavish gifts and kickbacks, in violation of state insurance fraud law.

A group of former Bristol-Myers employees allege sales representatives were encouraged to reward doctors who regularly prescribed the company's drugs.
