Seven Arts Won't Be Sanctioned In Film Copyright Case

Law360, New York (October 28, 2011, 3:38 PM EDT) -- Content Media Corp. — a defendant recently dismissed from a suit over the copyright to five films, including the Samuel L. Jackson drama "Rules of Engagement" — on Wednesday lost its bid to sanction Seven Arts Filmed Entertainment Ltd. for filing suit in bad faith.

U.S. District Judge Audrey B. Collins of the Central District of California found no bad faith and ruled that because Seven Arts had voluntarily dismissed Content as a defendant in August, Content is not a "prevailing party" and cannot be awarded...
