Dollar General To Pay $19M To End Gender Bias Action
By Megan Leonhardt (October 28, 2011, 7:10 PM EDT) -- The parent company of discount retailer Dollar General on Wednesday will ask an Alabama federal judge to approve a $18.75 million settlement with a group of female store managers who claim the discount store chain has a policy of sex-based wage discrimination.
Lead plaintiff Wanda Womack filed a settlement agreement on behalf of more than 2,000 female store managers on Friday. Under the deal, Dollar General owner Dolgencorp Inc. agreed to pay $18.75 million to its female managers, with $3.25 million going to the class counsel.
