Big East Hits WVU With Contract Suit Over Big 12 Move

Law360, New York (November 4, 2011, 7:45 PM EDT) -- College sports' Big East Conference lodged a breach of contract suit in Rhode Island on Friday against West Virginia University over the school's plans to take off for the Big 12 Conference.

The Big East claims that WVU is attempting to skirt its obligations to the conference, which require any member desiring to withdraw to give at least 27 months' notice, pay a $5 million fee and play all games included in the schedule until the effective date of the withdrawal.
