Brinker Settles Mass. Claims In Tips Action For $1.3M

Law360, San Diego (November 8, 2011, 6:09 PM EST) -- Maggiano’s Little Italy owner Brinker International Inc. on Tuesday settled for nearly $1.3 million Massachusetts claims in a nationwide proposed class action alleging the restaurant chain illegally pocketed a portion of waitstaff tips made during private dining events.

The plaintiffs asked the Massachusetts federal court to approve the agreement for a subclass of waitstaff who worked at Maggiano’s in Boston, but indicated that the rest of the nationwide claims would continue.
