Rite Aid Moves to Block Arbitration With Union

Law360 (July 2, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Rite Aid Corp. on Friday filed a motion seeking to prevent arbitration with a workers union, alleging the union does not represent former employees of drug store chains Brooks and Eckerd, which it recently acquired, and that therefore the union's arbitration demand is illegal.

“If the Union is permitted to proceed with its arbitration, Defendant [Rite Aid] and its 3,500 new associates upon whom the Union seeks to impose membership will suffer substantial prejudice,” the company said.
