Google Appeals Belgian Copyright Decision

Law360 (July 3, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Google Inc. has appealed the ruling of a Belgian court in February that it infringed on Belgian media company Copiepresse's copyright by showing snippets from news articles in its search results.

A hearing on the appeal is scheduled for July 17, but a Google spokesperson told Dow Jones that Google will probably use the hearing to file for an extension of the appeal. The company was legally required to file its appeal before a certain deadline.
