Cooley Aids San Diego Hotel Mogul In Union-Tribune Buy

Law360, New York (November 17, 2011, 3:57 PM EST) -- San Diego hotel and media baron Doug Manchester is buying the city's famed daily newspaper, the Union-Tribune, for a reported $110 million from Platinum Equity LLC with a plan to complete its transformation into an integrated media company, the companies said Thursday.

A company controlled by Manchester called MLIM LLC will be the purchaser, and it is predicted that the deal will close no later than Dec. 15, the parties said.
