Securitas Guards Lock Down Partial Class In FLSA Action

Law360, New York (November 18, 2011, 3:02 PM EST) -- An Illinois federal judge on Wednesday certified a class of Securitas Security Services USA Inc. security guards who say their employer violated federal and state wage laws by requiring them to attend a worker orientation program without compensating them.

U.S. District Judge Gary Feinerman said the security company's employees had demonstrated that certification was appropriate under the workers' pursuit of claims that Securitas violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and Illinois Minimum Wage Law by failing to pay up.
