Liquor Co. Pays $1.8M To Put Cork In OT Action

Law360, New York (November 22, 2011, 6:50 PM EST) -- Alcohol distributor Southern Wine and Spirits of America Inc. on Monday reached a $1.75 million settlement with a class of employees in a suit in California alleging unpaid overtime.

The employees, who worked for Southern Wine as merchandisers, sued the company in California state court on May 26, saying they had been required to work off the clock and were denied meal and rest breaks required by California law.  The case was removed to federal court July 5.
